Desde 2019 no hemos dejado de explorar la cuenca del Río Grande, en el desierto de Nasca, formada por nueve ríos y quebradas que descienden de las montañas y confluyen antes de llegar al mar, creando la forma de un gran árbol visto con imágenes satelitales. Encontramos una increíble biodiversidad y, entre las dunas de un sector llamado Usaka, un bosque de huarangos tan especial como lleno de vida, que merece ser protegido. Este libro, el primero en su tipo para esta región del Perú, muestra la naturaleza registrada a lo largo de todos estos años de exploraciones. Su objetivo: poner en valor la biodiversidad de este gran río-árbol al que llamamos Río Huarango.
Since 2019, we have not stopped exploring the Rio Grande basin in the Nasca desert, formed by nine rivers and ravines that descend from the mountains and converge before reaching the sea, creating the shape of a great tree when seen on satellite images. We found an incredible diversity of life and, among the dunes of an area called Usaka, a huarango forest as unique as it is full of life-one that deserves to be protected. This book, the first of its kind for this region of Peru, showcases the nature documented throughout all these years of exploration. Its goal: to raise awareness of and appreciation for the biodiversity of this great river-tree we called Rio Huarango.
